At the Yokote City Fureai Center, a cultural and sightseeing complex, you can learn about the history of the traditional “kamakura” event that has been passed down through the generations in Yokote City.
In the “Fantastic Gallery,” a video showing Yokote’s four seasons is shown, and the history of kamakura is introduced through panel displays and other exhibits.
The museum has a “kamakura room” where visitors can touch a real kamakura at any time. At the entrance, “donbuku” (tanzen) are provided to protect visitors from the cold.
The kamakura room is always maintained at a low temperature of less than 10℃ below zero, and visitors can see real kamakura made of Yokote snow all year round.
In addition, the Bon-den from the traditional event “Yokote’s Bon-den” is on display in the Sun Room, and there is also a Yokote City Tourist Association store on the first floor where you can purchase Yokote’s local products.
